Rain, Rain Go Away!
The wind whipped outside of Allyssa's door like a wolf howling at the moon as Allyssa stared glumly at the rain pattering on her window. The heavens had opened up, mourning in sync with the earth with a gentle weep. The wind and water worked hand in hand to get every last leaf off the trees, and few remained, clinging to the trees with all their might, for the tree should've still been so vibrantly decorated. The whole earth seemed to be sad, and joined together to make shaking trees, and wet tears. Sigh....that's a definition of today.

Yes, I could say the same, OR I could say, "Looking up from my writing, I gazed out of the window. Water dripped down the pane in perfect droplets, reflecting the grey and occasional green flecks, around it. Past these I could see the rain falling. The sky was grey, but I knew that, behind those clouds, somewhere, was the sun. I knew that if I stepped outside, I would smell the rain. I loved that smell-fresh, earthy, exactly what it should smell like. But I didn't have to go outside to hear the rain. There was nothing better, I thought, than sitting, warm and dry, inside, and listening to the rain pitter, patter, on the roof. I loved when the wind blew in a gust, and the pelting burst forth anew against the side of the house. Smiling, and with that sound in my ear, the smell in my memory, I bent back down to my writing."
